Molecular Characterization
Impact Analytical’s molecular characterization capabilities includes techniques that provide information regarding the identification or characterization of chemical functional groups or components in a material. This information, coupled with over 30 years of experience, allows us to solve highly technical customer problems. These problems include unknown identification, deformulation (reverse engineering), color-body identification, and chemical structure elucidation.
Impact Analytical utilizes infrared spectroscopy (IR), chromatography combined with mass spectrometry (GC-MS and LC-MS), direct probe mass spectrometry (both EI and CI), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to identify polymers, contaminant residues, unknowns, polymer additives, and research molecules.
Techniques include:
- Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
- Mass spectrometry (MS)
- Q-TOF Exact Mass MS
- Chemical ionization MS
- Electron impact ionization MS
- Electrospray ionization MS
- Gas chromatography MS
- 400 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy
- 1H, 13C, 19F, 29Si
- 2D COSY, NOESY, HETCOR
- Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy
