Impact Analytical's molecular characterization laboratory includes techniques
that provide information regarding the identification or characterization of
chemical functional groups or components in a material. This information,
coupled with Impact's collective 250-plus years experience, allows us to solve
highly technical customer problems. These problems include unknown identification,
deformulation (reverse engineering), color-body identification and chemical
structure elucidation.
Impact utilizes infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), chromatography combined with mass
spectrometry (GC-, LC-MS), direct probe mass spectrometry (both EI and CI), matrix
assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) and magnetic
resonance spectroscopy (NMR) to identify polymers, contaminant residues, polymer
additives and research products.
