Icon Molecular Characterization

Impact Analytical's molecular characterization capabilities includes techniques that provide information regarding the identification or characterization of chemical functional groups or components in a material. This information, coupled with over 30 years of experience, allows us to solve highly technical customer problems. These problems include unknown identification, deformulation (reverse engineering), color-body identification and chemical structure elucidation.

Impact Analytical utilizes infrared spectroscopy (IR), chromatography combined with mass spectrometry (GC-MS and LC-MS), direct probe mass spectrometry (both EI and CI), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to identify polymers, contaminant residues, unknowns, polymer additives and research molecules.

Techniques include:

  • Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
  • Mass spectrometry (MS)
  • Q-TOF Exact Mass MS
  • Chemical ionization MS
  • Electron impact ionization MS
  • Electrospray ionization MS
  • Gas chromatography MS
  • 400 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy
  • 1H, 13C, 19F, 29Si
  • 2D COSY, NOESY, HETCOR
  • Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy
