Impact Offers Flame Extension Testing

Impact Analytical announced today the addition of flame extension/flashback testing of aerosol cans to its suite of diagnostic capabilities. The flame testing is an important step for aerosol manufacturers seeking federal approval for their products.

"There aren't many analytical labs that can flame-test against both U.S. and Canadian standards," said Eric Hill, Business Marketing Manager for Impact Analytical. "We are now able to offer that service to customers, along with our standard guarantee of accurate, safe results."

Federal guidelines specify tests must involve the measurement of any flame produced when an aerosol product is sprayed into it, Hill said. Those measured results are used to classify the products as “non-flammable”, “flammable” or “very flammable”, a requirement for all aerosol products marketed in the US & Canada. 

"Our state-of-the-art, custom-built test stand allows for the accurate and safe testing of aerosol cans of all shapes and sizes," he added. "The testing is done inside a stainless steel-lined hood, through the use of air-operated actuator. This allows our analysts the ability to safely observe the test from outside the hood, while also producing repeatable discharges of each sample."
