Diethylene Glycol Analysis

Characterization of Toothpaste for Residual Diethylene Glycol (DEG)

Impact Analytical has an extraction procedure and analysis method in place to analyze toothpaste products for residual Diethylene Glycol (DEG).  Diethylene glycol is an organic compound used in the manufacturing process of plastizers, resins and some polymers.  In 2007 DEG came under scrutiny in reports of hazardous levels found in some toothpaste products.  Impact Analytical answered this problem by developing a specific Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) procedure for accurately identifying and quantifying levels of DEG in toothpaste.  This procedure can be modified for characterization of other matrices.  This service and testing can be performed to cGMP or GLP guidelines if required.  Contact us today or request a quote if you need DEG testing for your products.
